On February
28th, Fat Tuesday, at The Park West Theatre on Armitage, a fabulous
Mardi Gras style event will feature amazing Chicago Jazz &
Blues talent, cash bar and great food from a selection of area
restaurants (Bluegrass of Highland Park, Carnivale,
Catch 35, Chestnut Grill and The Gale Street
Inn). Everyone is donating their time and talent in an
effort to send $100,000+ down to benefit the homeless and displaced
musicians of The Big Easy.
The wonderful
New
Orleans Musician’s Clinic (NOMC) has a formula
for aid: For every $1 raised, they provide $12 worth of services
by weaving together existing services and donated services and
goods whenever possible. They have recently partnered with Habitat
for Humanity to re-build and house musician’s who
have lost everything as a result of the devastation of Hurricane
Katrina.
This would
mean our goal of $100,000 could translate to $1.2 million!
The
New Orleans Musicians' Clinic is a not-for-profit occupational
medicine service sponsored by Daughters of Charity Services of
New Orleans, The LSU Healthcare Network, and the The New Orleans
Jazz and Heritage Foundation.
The heritage
of New Orleans and its music must be preserved and treasured…
As you know,
Park West is a premier performance venue and is one of Chicago’s
best-equipped multimedia facilities. Most of our Park West room
costs and production expenses are being generously underwritten
by The
Porsche Exchange of Highland Park.
